European Football – Soccer as it is called in the USA

Since the season 2009/2010 was carried out reform of the European football cups.  The major changes include: eliminating Intertoto Cup and the elimination of the system change, both for the Champions League and Europa League (the new name for the UEFA Cup).

It seems that most of the proposed change is beneficial for Polish. Champions League In this competition has changed dramatically elimination system, which will consist of two independent ladders:     Qualification for the “masters” – will take part in them champions from 17 countries are classified into 53 seats (or a champion Polish). There will be four rounds of elimination (Poland starts from 2 rounds), and the group stage will advance five teams. Additionally, the team falling off in 3rd round of elimination, dropping to 4 rounds of elimination to the League of Europe, and flaking in the 4th round, once they land in League group stage of Europe.     qualifying for “no masters” – will take part in them from the lower teams in the league of the best countries (1-15 places in UEFA ranking).

They will compete in two qualifying rounds and just like in qualifying, “the masters”, losing team will drop to the appropriate phase of the League of Europe. With these qualifiers for the Champions League group stage and five teams will advance. This division is very good news for Polish. From now on Polish champion for promotion to the group stage, will no longer have to stumble against teams from the best European leagues, only the sized league champions (the strongest of this group at this time include: Belga, Denmark and Switzerland).

In connection with the abolition of the Intertoto Cup games, most countries (including Poland) received an additional seat in the League of Europe. Also lengthened the elimination system, which will consist of 4 rounds up. Same group as the game have changed. Will involve 48 teams, divided into 12 groups of 4 teams that will play a match and a rematch with every opponent in the group. Promoted to the next phase of the two best teams from each group, which will compete on a standard knockout system. For Polish certainly big advantage is the fact that we have an extra team in European competition. But on the other hand extended eliminations, which will probably be harder to pass.
